When America was awakened to sanctified sound in the early '70's that sound was Donnie MclCurkin. Shaped
by a music vector in an aunt who sang back up for Andre' Crouch, Donnie formed a church hymnal musical
group, The New York Restoration Choir, when he was only 16. Donnie had begun to play the piano by age 13
as, over the years, his musical genius was demonstrated as he played piano and sang in church. This was only the first
of God's miracles performed in the young musician. While life had not been fair to Donnie, having borne the brunt of
two violent attacks during childhood and losing two siblings while he was a mere boy, by the time things began to
appear better for him, he was hit with an even greater pain; the pain of internal swelling and hemorrhaging. The diagnosis
was the most dreaded. Doctors delivered to Donnie a word that threatened like the sound of a loud gong that might
have suddenly shaken him out of peaceful slumber. It was Leukemia. Not sticking around for the prognosis,
Donnie wrote his own and his perscription, placing his hope and trust in the Lord. Donnie, 31 when the
diagnosis was given, is now living the second miracle nearly 20 years later--he had never recieved it.
"...believe that God will save you," ...I had to ...practice the very thing that I preached."
-Donnie Mclurkin
It had been in 1991, only two years after the perilous health report, that Donnie was hired
by Marvin Winans and the Perfect Faith Church. Donnie was deemed a leader in ministry and, after
10 years, he was apostelized by Winans. In 2001, Donnie McClurkin was sent to fill the role
of head pastor of the Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, Long Island and is now the Senior Pastor.

Donnie reaches millions with his music and through political arteries, his life has been an example of hope for many. Criticized
by the church for his active involvement in a 2004 political rally during which the subject of homosexuality
had been touted, Mclurkin, now claims that he is an ex-gay. At 50 year old, McClurkin is a man who speaks
his mind as he lives his life. He has, also, spoken candidly on the subject of inter- gender relations and describes
the abnormal comportment as " ...a spiritual issue...that one can be delivered from ...by God..." McClurkin
gives a testament to his salvation as being the bridge that carried on to his new found, sin free life.
"...I came to realize that I was broken and that homosexuality was not God's intention ...for ...masculinity...homosexuality
is a curse..."
-Donnie McClurkin
Along with his voice, it is a fusion of natural music and the Holy spirit that reaches
people. Reaching people in the song he entitled, 'We Fall Down', it was in this instance that the music
world was caused to recognize the unveiling of a new reality-- it is that, more than just a musician, Donnie MclCurkin is
an angel of God meant to open a portal among thousands and thousands of lost and losing people and lead all who
join him in praise to salvation with Holy pageantry.
"Lift Your Voice and Sing, Holy. Jesus Is"
-Donnie McClurkin
